2012 - Wow another year gone by so quickly

Hi ladies, just to let you know I have put the dates for 2012 in the side bar. I haven't booked the Centre yet so if there is any glaringly obvious errors, please let me know asap. I have changed October because the 3rd Sunday fell on the weekend of the retreat and I am presuming the majority will be at the retreat.
With the help of the trusty P Neville calendar, I hope I have managed to miss long weekends and school holidays. The January one is the last Sunday of the school holidays so hopefully all you mums/teachers will need a relaxing day before starting the new school year.
For those that are unable to come to the Christmas breakup on Sunday, Dilys & I wish you a merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
Take care over the silly season,
Linda and Dilys

4th December

Hi ladies, thanks for another lovely day, everybody was very busy and we all seemed to get plenty done.
Well believe it or not its that time of the year again, our next scrapbooking day is on the 4th December - 2 weeks time!!!! Hard to believe another year has gone round. Once again we will have a festive day, with secret santa (gift to the value of $5.00) and a nice lunch. Could everybody let me know as soon as possible if they will be coming and whether they will be bringing a sweet or savory dish.
Here are photos of the swaps we did this week, all great work as usual there is no swap this month as time is short and I am sure everybody has enough to do preparing for Christmas,

We look forward to hearing from you, have a good week.

Angels for the Forgotten

Shandell talked to us today about Angels for the Forgotten a group that is dedicated to giving dignity, hope and joy to our community's most vulnerable who are entering foster care or living in crisis.
Their aim is to put a little bit of Sparkle in to otherwise bleak and tramatic situations. Please check out their website to find out more about this group.
We are a caring group of ladies and one of the ways we can help Angels is to make cards, how easy is that? Birthday cards, christmas, cards just to say "hello". So ladies, if you can help by making some cards that would be a wonderful gesture. Shandell is hoping to get at least 100 cards, so ladies can we do it? As many cards as you can put together, or even find in your stash, would be a help. Just bring them to the next Simplycrafty get together, every card you make will help towards making the goal of 100.
Thanks ladies,
Linda and Dilys

16 October

Hi ladies, another enjoyable day, lots of work and chatting as usual. The swaps were their usual amazing standard, its great to see all the different techniques. Next month's swap is:
(a) cards - "LOVE" - e.g. engagement, wedding, wedding anniversary, valentine's day, to name a few; and
(b) embellishments - "SKY" e.g. birds, aeroplanes, helicoptersw, clouds, butterflies.
These are Shandell's great ideas and luckily Shandell usually gives us some ideas, so ladies, if you want to join in, please let us know asap so that we can finalise numbers.
Have a good month and for those going to the retreat, enjoy enjoy and enjoy - watch out for the food, its fattening LOL.

21.9.11

Hi ladies, we had a good day today, there were only seven of us with a "drop in" by Sandra and Lorelle to drop of their swaps/cards.
The denim swaps were excellent as were the card swaps, pictures are attached but I must apologise for the quality from my mobile phone, as it does not do the cards justice as they were excellent.
Shandell did her show and tell and showed us how to do lovely flowers, we all had a go and I took a photo of mine, so thanks Shandell, will have to do a lot of practice but it was a beautiful flower.

The swap for next month is "male embellishment tag or some such thing" and the card stop will be 'flowers". So if you want to join us, just let us know and we can notify numbers nearer the date.

So until next month ladies, take care and hope to see you then.
PLEASE NOTE, NEXT MONTH'S SIMPLYCRAFTY WILL BE ON THE 11/08/2011. THANKS.

Hi ladies, everybody seemed to have a good Xmas in July, lots of lovely secret santa gifts, all the Christmas cards we swapped were very well done, very creative. The swap went down well - 13 ladies participating - and they all looked great, well done.
Well Shandell has set us a good swap this month, a "DENIM" swap. Luckily she sent a picture of a denim swap she participated in and there was quite a few good ides for us all that I have emailed to everybody.
If you want to take part in the swap next month, can you let us know before 14th August so that everybody can be "organised" (if there is such a word in the scrapbooking community).

Yesterday - 19.6.11

Hi ladies, I think all of us agree, lots of chatting, eating etc., going on all day, not too much creating, BUT, it is nice to catch up and chat the day away. Lorelle showed us how to make a pretty patchwork card and most of the ladies made one and gave it back to Lorelle for the Cancer Foundation. There were lots of variations, of course I stuffed mine up and ended up doing a completely different card!!! It was a great day though and we all enjoyed it. The swap was a success with all of us getting some lovely "country theme" embellishments/tags etc.
It's hard to believe, but next month is July and everybody seems in favour of the Christmas in July theme so we will carry on that tradition. This year we are going to make 3 Christmas cards, put them in a bag and have a lucky dip on the day, so everybody that takes part in this will get 3 Christmas cards all ready made. They can be all the same or different cards, whatever you wish as long as they are Christmas cards.
ALSO - there will be Secret Santa, the usual small gift of $5.00 value. For the new ladies, we each buy a gift to the value of $5.00 and they are numbered and picked out on the day, it is a great success and everybody goes home with a lovely gift.
AND - we will be doing another swap and to keep in with the Christmas theme, it will be a Christmas Tag - either for a present or for a scrapbook page. At the moment we have about 10 taking part and I will email everybody with the names and final numbers nearer the date. If everybody could let me know who wants to take part in the Christmas Tag Swap, please let us know asap and at least before 10th July so that everybody has time to do up their tags.
Welcome to Tanya Nielsen who joined us yesterday, we hope you enjoyed the day.
Gosh what a long post......I think that is about all the news for the moment.
Take care and have a good month
Cheers

have a good week

15th May 2011

Hi ladies, a good time was had by all on Sunday, lots of lovely chatting and swapping of ideas. We had a general discussion and it was decided that we would start up the swaps again..... so... the next swap will be a country theme embellishment, (birds, trees, butterfies etc) anything to do with outside in the country. At the moment the following ladies are joining in:
Shandell, Sandra, Lorelle, Kerrie, Katie, Helen, Dilys and Linda.
If anybody else would like to join in, please let us know at least 2 weeks before the next Simply Crafty day, which cut off date will be 9th June. We look forward to hearing from you and will let you know on the 9th June how many are participating.
Also, general consensus was to have Christmas in July again, with secret santa and also for something different a lucky dip in which each lady makes 3 Christmas cards (yes 3) puts them in a bag and then we all pick one out, hey presto we have started our Christmas cards for 2011. More news about this nearer the time.

Thanks ladies, have a good month, don't forget Sew What's Crafty this weekend and also the Scrapbooking Convention in Brisbane over the June long weekend - may even see you there...
Take Care

LOL.Hope you find them Lorelle, the scissors might be with the ruler................. and your marbles LOL.
Well ladies, to all those going to the retreat, see you there, and for those that aren't going see you on the 10th April.

We welcomed two new ladies, Amanda and Courtney (please forgive me if I have got the names wrong), so welcome to our group ladies and we hope to see you again. It sounds as if there are quite a few going on the April retreat, if anybody out there would like to join us, just let us know and we will organise with Kerry to get in touch with you.
Now I did take my camera, but (senior moment "again") didn't get to take any photos for the block. I must get myself organised this year (said that last year I know).

Sunday, 30th January 2011

Happy New Year to everybody. It hasn't started off very well with all the disaster around us. Let's hope the water will go away soon and people can start to rebuild their lives.
Just to let you know we start up again on Sunday, 10.30 - 4.00. The monthly fee has gone up to $6.00 due to the increase in the rent for the rooms.
Have a good week and hope to see you all on Sunday,

Cheers,
Linda and Dilys

PS - not too sure if we let everybody know, the C for Cure fundraiser run by Lorelle raised approximately $1,100.00 - well done Lorelle and all the ladies that helped out.
